Hello everyone my name is Lucy and I am the new Area Co-ordinator for East London & South Essex IA. I have had an ileostomy for nearly five years now due to Crohn’s disease. I chose to start volunteering with IA because I remember after having my stoma surgery, I had lots of questions that were not medical questions but more day-to-day living questions that I had nobody to ask. I found that there was a lack of local peer support groups for ostomates and that is why I have chosen to help with restarting the East London & South Essex group.

I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback on what you would like most from the group moving forward. We are also trying to recruit more volunteers in the area, so if you are interested in any way with helping with the running of the group, please complete the expression of interest form and someone will be in touch at volunteering.
